Here we have a nicely detailed 3 1/2″ gauge LMS Black 5 based upon the ubiquitous LBSC ‘Doris’ design. This is a very well built model, having been produced by a well respected and experienced model engineer. The boiler is in very good condition, and it comes with all the historic boiler certs, and can be given the usual full 4 year hydraulic and fresh annual steam cert.
The model is fitted with all the usual refinements. There are footplate operated drain cocks, An injector, mechanical hand pump, and eccentric axle pump with bypas. Lubrication is mechanical and hidden under the front footplate. The quality of machining work on the valve gear is very neat, and the locomotive is a very nice and proven runner.
